We’re looking for a creative, organized, and energetic individual to join the Health Sciences North (HSN) Foundation as our Events Fundraising Intern. The HSN Foundation has seen incredible growth recently, more than tripling our fundraising impact. As we prepare for a transformative capital campaign that will shape the future of healthcare in Northeastern Ontario, our events are more important than ever in connecting with our community. This role is a perfect fit for a recent graduate or a professional entering the field who has a passion for event planning, community engagement, and storytelling. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy a fast-paced environment, love seeing the details of an event come to life and are motivated by making a real difference for patients and families in the North. As an Events Fundraising Intern, you will support the planning and execution of a diverse range of initiatives, from signature foundation events to community-led fundraisers. You’ll assist with logistics, volunteer coordination, and donor stewardship, gaining hands-on experience in how high-impact events fuel healthcare excellence. If you are a proactive problem-solver who is ready to launch your career with a team that values excellence and community, we want to meet you. Ready to start your journey? When @sudburyrocksmarathon participant Jill Riva crosses the finish line, it is about more than completing 21.1 kilometres. It is a celebration of survivorship and the exceptional cancer care she received close to home at the Shirley & Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre at HSN. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021, Jill turned her gratitude into action by running SudburyROCKS!!! in support of the HSN Foundation. “The 21.1 kilometres gives me time to reflect on my journey and celebrate survivorship,” says Jill. “Crossing the finish line remains exhilarating and emotional.” On May 24, you can make every step count for patients like Jill. Register, donate or create a fundraising team to support cancer care and other life-changing programs at HSN. Registration closes May 20. Read Jill’s full story and sign up today: /story/jills-story/

At just six years old, Lennox was a hockey-loving kid who suddenly became seriously ill. He was eventually diagnosed with blastomycosis, a rare and serious fungal infection in his lungs. During this time, his family wasn’t sure if he would ever get back on the ice. Thanks to the exceptional care he received at HSN, Lennox was able to recover close to home, surrounded by the people who love him most. Today, he is finishing a successful season with the U16 AAA Sudbury Wolves , has earned a spot on Team NOHA, and recently represented Northern Ontario at the OHL Cup. This is the impact of donor support. Read more about Lennox and his journey to recovery: /story/lennoxs-story/

🌟 STAR Award Spotlight: Pediatric In-Patient Unit 🌟 When 16-year-old Tyler was admitted to HSN with pneumonia, his mother, Angele, was reminded just how important it is to have exceptional care close to home. Tyler, who also lives with Cerebral Palsy, has spent much of his life travelling long distances for treatment. “When Tyler was younger, they had to drive four hours to get to SickKids for his treatment,” Angele shared. “I did not have to drive this time, thankfully. My friends and family could easily come support me since we were in Sudbury. I was also able to stay with him the entire time, in his room and I appreciate that.” Grateful for the compassion and support her family received, Angele made a STAR donation in honour of the Pediatric In-Patient Unit team. 💙 Thank you to the entire team for providing expert care, comfort, and support when families need it most. 🌟 Recognize an HSN STAR today: https://ow.ly/olMf50VfyKj

From the outside, it looks quiet. Lakes. Forests. Small hospitals serving close-knit communities. But behind the screen, there’s a network of expertise ready to step in when something critical happens. Because even in the most remote places, care is never truly out of reach. When a rural hospital needs support, specialists can join in real time, working alongside local teams through critical decisions. Help the Virtual Critical Care team save lives across Northeastern Ontario. Link in bio.
