@circle.walk.together.break is currently working on his BA project “Make Friends with a Stork!”👀✨
“Our emotional worlds are often too complex to put into words. They are abstract, overwhelming, exhausting
— and at the same time the driving force behind everything that holds meaning. What does a sunset mean without personal connection, without the smell of summer air, a missed opportunity, or melancholy?
In this work, I confront these associations. My images form a bridge between my inner world and the out-side world. They show what I cannot or do not want to express in words. Influenced by music and the worlds
of Murakami, I want to show how much can emerge when we simply look.”
Super excited to see the final product!!

The BA3 students are fully immersed in their BA projects. Five more weeks to go until the Werkschau opening on Friday, 19. June!💥
In the course of the next weeks we're introducing you to all final bachelor projects. Starting today with a visual sneak peak of the evolving BA projects. 👀💥
Our cities are planned, regulated, controlled, and curated - to the adavantage of some inhabitants and the disadavantage of others. Taking corvids in Basel as its starting point, in this project @elenazihlmann explores the tension between control and coexistence. It challenges the anthropocentric worldview that is behind most of our encounters with nature. Wildlife can be fascinating, but with this example it becomes clear how quickly love of nature turns into hostility when the other come to close in the space we claim as our own. In the project, real practices of control side with staged scenarios that reveal urban mechanisms of repression.
Rest as Resistance by @sofieelinaberz reads female exhaustion as a structural problem stemming from patriarchal power dynamics, focusing on one of its central aspects: the sense of security. Spaces without access for men exist across cultures and systems, pointing to a collective need for places that offer a temporary escape from our male-dominated world. The project combines a room for rest with a publication on such historical and contemporary safe spaces in Switzerland, understanding withdrawal not as a solution but as a necessity within current societal structures.

@jeker_julia is working on her BA project!!💫
“For my Bachelor project I am creating images which have a magical atmosphere oscillating between comfort and uncanniness. I try to explore the in-between space and the ambiguous feelings that come with it.
How can we learn to navigate thresholds and gain strength surrounded by the unfamiliar?”
Excited to see the final results👀

Lecture Stand with Ukraine
Since regaining independence in 1991, Ukraine has sought to free itself from Russian influence. Over the past four years, the full-scale Russian invasion has placed Ukrainians in a situation of existential struggle. This has led to profound transformations—not only in the political order, which has begun to unravel, but also in the ways the ongoing conflict is represented in the media and beyond. The lecture will focus on a range of visual strategies that respond to and critically examine these changes.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at CA! ❤️👁️ #hslu #hsludfk #cameraarts #rafalmilach

Stay tuned for more in two weeks.

This Friday 17 April, two exhibitions by our students open simultaneously!🔥🔥
Over the past few months, the BA1 students have been working on the topic of “Disruption” as part of the Visual Narratives module. “Disruption” breaks patterns and resets expectations. It cuts into systems that appear stable and exposes their limits — beginning with small shifts that scale fast through new technologies, changing behaviors, or alternative ways of thinking.
Across these contexts, disruption takes distinct forms: new political systems reshape power; civil rules are tested at their edges; conflict alters memory and identity; misogynistic institutions are unmasked; psychosis and rehabilitation shift perception; queerness challenges religious authority; new masculinities emerge; luxury consumption accelerates environmental damage; landscapes are redrawn by catastrophe; migration redefines belonging; and the ending of one’s own life confronts the limits of agency.
The show is curated by Laia Abril @laia_abril and Taiyo Onorato @taiyo_onorato .
Meanwhile the BA2 students have been focussing on a transmedia project:
“To belong otherwise” is a transmedia exhibition featuring three projects that together rethink identities, coexistence and control through ecological and political lenses. Rather than framing roots as fixed or romantic points of origin each individual project contributes to build an understanding of them as living systems: entangled, adaptive, and shaped by power.
Through video, sound, installation, and digital media, “To belong otherwise” explores how norms and systems are embedded within ecological, historical, and social infrastructures. Roots emerge as both sustenance and constraint: what grounds and binds can also impede us.
The show is curated by Salvatore Vitale @salvatorevitale_ and Thomas Knüsel.
See you at the opening on Friday at 17:00h!👀
The show will be open from 18.4. - 24.4. from 9:00 until 17:00
Today the BA3 students made some first grafts, together with @danaepanchaud , of how the possible final exhibition during the Werkschau could look like! This year Camera Arts will present their work in the Aktionshalle 👀
We are excited to see the personal progress!
Thanks to Danae and Sara for the help and coordination 💚
