Today, I had the pleasure of receiving members of the House of Representatives who recently decamped to the NDC. They paid a courtesy visit to interact with me and the leadership of our party. We were also delighted to have in attendance, first, His Excellency Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and later, His Excellency Peter Obi, who joined us. I thank them for their support for the party and for the loyalty they demonstrated in following their leader to the NDC. They are on the right course, and the NDC remains committed to building a united and democratic Nigeria for all. I urged them to continue to uphold the democratic rights of the Nigerian people and to resist every attempt to entrench a one-party state in our country. They should remain steadfast in supporting the party while continuing to work closely with their leaders and constituents in service to the people. I also received my former colleague from Gombe State, Senator Col. Amos Bulus (Rtd), and his team, who joined us from the APC. In the same vein, Prince Yahaya Audu led a delegation from Kogi State and was warmly received. It was a pleasure for His Excellency Peter Obi to join me in welcoming Col. Bulus, Prince Audu, and their team members into the NDC family. We also received the donation of a vehicle from the Delta State chapter of the NDC. I thank the donors, as well as all those who, since the launch of this party, have continued to support the NDC through various donations and contributions. May God replenish their resources abundantly. I also call on other Nigerians of goodwill to continue to support the party. The NDC is not funded by any single individual or by any government. Our party is sustained by the sacrifice, commitment, and contributions of members and supporters who believe in our vision for a better Nigeria. ~HSD

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the kidnapping and gruesome murder of my dear friend and ally, Hon. Abba Anas Adamu of Jigawa State. I was informed that Abba Anas was among those abducted in the worsening wave of insecurity, kidnappings, and killings that continue to plague our country, particularly across Northern Nigeria and even parts of the South. I was told that while travelling with his colleagues, they were kidnapped, and that even after the ransom demanded was paid, he was still brutally killed. The news left me devastated and heartbroken at the tragic and painful manner in which such a good man lost his life. Hon. Abba Anas Adamu was not just a political associate; he was a friend and brother to me since our days together in the House of Representatives around 2007. During the political turbulence that followed President Yar’Adua’s illness and the succession crisis, I led a group of patriotic Nigerians in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Nigeria First Forum. For strategic reasons, I appointed Abba Anas to chair the team, and alongside other committed patriots, he worked tirelessly across ethnic and regional lines in the national interest. Patriots like Hon. Abba Anas defied all odds, inducement, intimidation and blackmail. I arranged another patriot, Hon Dr. Sani Abdu from Bauchi, then of the ANPP, to move the motion for President Jonathan to be made Acting President. Hon. Abba Anas was the one who seconded the motion while I contributed four times on that day. Hon. Dino Melaye’s shirt got torn on the floor of the House. Some others involved in that patriotic effort have since gone to be with their Maker, like Hon. Bethel Amadi and Hon. Independence Ogunewe, while others are still alive. Now, Abba Anas has joined them. May God bless their souls. Together, we fought to ensure the emergence of what later became known as the Doctrine of Necessity, which ultimately paved the way for President Goodluck Jonathan to ascend to the Presidency.

Today, in the company of our party officials, I received the former Deputy Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency John Yoriyo, alongside his delegation, who formally joined the NDC and pledged their support for our vision and movement. I was also pleased to receive Hon. Charity Iguodalo Aiguobarueghian, the Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, together with a large delegation of Assembly members from Edo State. Notably among them was Hon. Natasha Osawaru-Idibia, accompanied by her husband, the renowned musical icon Innocent Idibia (2Baba), who paid a courtesy visit to declare their support for the NDC and formally join the party. Other political figures whom I had earlier received, but had the pleasure of formally presenting with our party membership cards on this occasion, symbolising their full integration into the party, included High Chief Peter Ojemen (Don P), the Okodalo of Esanland from Edo State, Dr. Aisha Yesufu, and many others. I urged them all to remain steadfast and committed to supporting and building the NDC as we continue to offer Nigerians a credible and people-oriented political alternative. I thank Nigerians across the country for their continued support, confidence, and prayers. The NDC remains the main opposition party in the current political landscape of our country, and we welcome all Nigerians, irrespective of previous political affiliations, to join and support this growing national movement. NDC, service to the people! ~HSD

Fellow Compatriots, Today, as I have consistently done in recent weeks and months, I had the pleasure, in the company of His Excellency Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, CON, to receive Senator Mohammed Hassan from Yobe State, alongside other political leaders and stakeholders from the state who have joined our great party. I also received High Chief Peter Ojemen (Don P) MFR, the Okodalo of Esanland from Edo State, and several other patriots who came to identify with the vision of the NDC and who are passionate about the survival of multi-party democracy, inclusive governance, and a culture of robust but civilized political engagement—values I have always lived by. In all my interactions, I took time to clearly explain the vision and ideals of the NDC as an ideological political party driven by the mission to entrench politics of service. I have equally emphasised to other opposition leaders that the NDC was not established to supplant or weaken any opposition party, nor to divide the opposition. Rather, from inception, our goal has been to provide an alternative platform—an umbrella now for all opposition parties and well-meaning Nigerians, especially in the face of a strangulating and suffocating political environment. Our doors remain open to all members of opposition parties and even aggrieved members of the ruling party—because we are all Nigerians, with the constitutional freedom to join political parties of our choice without coercion, inducement, or intimidation by anyone. I assure all who join us that they will be well-received with fairness, respect, and given the freedom to pursue their political aspirations within the framework of our constitution. In this regard, I call on all members and supporters of the NDC to refrain from casting aspersions on leading opposition figures. We must see ourselves, whether in the ADC, APM, or other genuine opposition parties, as belonging to one political family. I also call on supporters and advocates of the ADC to avoid rhetoric that seeks to tarnish the image or reputation of leading members of the NDC, or any other opposition party.

I thank Nigerians across all parts of our country for their growing support and confidence in us and in the NDC. That trust has been the most important currency driving the party from its early days up until now, especially with the recent addition of my two distinguished colleagues. What we are witnessing is a powerful convergence: my role as a party organiser and builder, alongside two political heavyweights with immense grassroots support, popularity and political experience, as well as several other leaders in their own right across the country, all coming together under one platform. As I have consistently stated, our goal in the NDC is to build an ideological political party, one that can be compared to the ANC in its finest years in South Africa, as well as established political parties across Europe, America, India and even the Communist Party of China—in terms of stability, structure, and the ability to endure beyond its founders for generations to come. The NDC is a party with a special place for young people and women, one that prioritises mentorship and prepares citizens for service. It is designed to serve the people, not just the big, strong, and powerful, but also the ordinary and the vulnerable. For the record, the annexures show that we initiated the registration process for the NDC as far back as 2017, and that INEC granted approval at that time before the process was halted. When party registration resumed last year, we revisited and updated our earlier application. The other document shows a Google search we conducted on February 3, 2017, while searching for the appropriate “V-sign” as the party’s logo. With my experience in politics, I am fully aware that an ambitious project of this nature will attract distractions—rumours, gossip, propaganda, and even blackmail. These are all parts of the terrain that we are used to. I therefore urge Nigerians to discountenance and ignore such propaganda about the ndc or any of its leaders and remain focused on the bigger picture. I call on all Nigerians to join the NDC, register, participate, and contest elections. Together, let us reclaim and rebuild our country. ~HSD

Today, in continuation of our ongoing engagements with key political leaders from across the country, we had the pleasure of receiving Comrade Babatunde F. Alli, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), alongside his teaming supporters, into our great party. Comrade Alli, a seasoned political activist mentored by the late Mallam Balarabe Musa, devoted over two decades of service to the PRP, serving twice as National Secretary and most recently as Deputy National Chairman before resigning his membership to join the NDC. He came in the company of several former PRP officers drawn from different states of the Federation. I thank the National Chairman of the NDC, Senator Moses Cleopas, and members of the National Working Committee, who have confirmed him as the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the NDC, pending ratification by Congress. We also received Prof. Mohammed Sani Yahaya, accompanied by former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Musa Istiphanus, OON, from Taraba State, who joined the party accompanied by key party leaders from the state. We directed them to work closely with the State Chairman and officers of the NDC in Taraba to further strengthen and reposition the party there. In the same vein, we welcomed Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, former member of the House of Representatives and former member of the Federal Code of Conduct Bureau, as well as a notable political figure in Edo State, who has also joined the NDC. We thank all of them for believing in the vision of the NDC and urge them to commit their energy, experience, and networks toward building a stronger party that can offer credible leadership and a better future for Nigeria. ~HSD

Today, I joined the National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee to receive my former colleague in the Senate, Distinguished Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, into our great party, the NDC. I thanked her for believing in our vision for a new Nigeria and in a different kind of politics anchored on ideology, service, inclusion, and national development. We also used the occasion to call on Nigerian women across the country to join the NDC, a party that recognises and values the vital role of women and youths in nation-building. I urged them to rise and embrace the NDC as a platform for service, leadership, and positive change in Nigeria. It is because of our deep commitment to inclusion that, at our very first NEC meeting, the NDC adopted affirmative action for women. We therefore invite women across Nigeria to use the NDC platform to break barriers, shatter glass ceilings, and aspire to all elective offices as well as leadership positions within the party. I have always been known as an advocate for women’s inclusion, empowerment, and development. Today, I am proud that the NDC is providing a credible vehicle to advance that cause on a national scale. We warmly welcomed Senator Binani and wished her success in this new chapter. We gave her the mantle of leadership and entrusted her with the responsibility of working with the State Chairman, party leaders, and stakeholders in Adamawa State to build consensus, promote unity, deepen inclusion, and work for the good people of the state. We hope to see the NDC continue to grow stronger in Adamawa State and across Nigeria as more patriotic Nigerians join this movement for national renewal. NDC all the way! ~HSD

Happy Workers’ Day to all Nigerian workers whose daily labour, sacrifice, resilience, and dedication sustain our nation and keep the wheels of progress turning. Today, we honour the men and women across every sector—public and private, formal and informal, who rise each day with hope and determination to provide for their families and contribute to national development, often under very challenging circumstances. As we celebrate this important day, we must also reflect on the urgent need to create a country where hard work is rewarded, dignity of labour is protected, wages are fair, opportunities are expanded, and young people can look to the future with confidence. The NDC stands for a new political culture anchored on justice, competence, productivity, and people-centred governance. We believe Nigerian workers deserve leadership that values their contributions and is committed to building an economy that works for all. To all workers across our great nation, I salute your courage, perseverance, and patriotism. Happy Workers’ Day. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, CON
