It’s a busy time of year for #workexperience and this week we’ve welcomed our second #sixthform student of the month, Thomas, to trial working life as a #compositetechnician.
Though every placement varies, we endeavour to show students as many different aspects of the role, and business, as possible.
So far Thomas has received a hands-on introduction to #manufacturing #carbonfibre components for #formula1 and #bespokeprojects, observed the programming and maintenance of key manufacturing equipment, and has worked alongside various members of the team including our L3 apprentices and Head of Technical.
Tom has also been given the opportunity to sit with our #HealthandSafety Executive, Marc Reed - Tech IOSH, this afternoon where he received a knowledgeable whistlestop tour of #workplacesafety.
The week isn’t over yet, but we’re already very impressed with Tom. We look forward to hearing his take-aways from the experience and watching his #futurecareer progress.
This week we had the pleasure of hosting a #workexperience placement for #sixthform student, Harvey.
Harvey spent the week trialling working life as a #compositetechnician where he had the opportunity to try his hand at #manufacturing #highspecification #carbonfibre components for #f1 and #bespoke projects.
Harvey rated his week with High Spec as 5 out of 5 ⭐ , commenting that he most enjoyed 'working on real, useable components and #gaininginsight into the #composite manufacturing process'.
We celebrated Harvey's engagement, #teamwork, and aptitude with a complimentary gift voucher and wish him all the best with his future #career!

Designed for 8-13 year olds (based on school years) who have an interest in #STEM, the summer courses are a week long course where children explore and complete fun STEM projects at either UTC #Oxfordshire or UTC #Silverstone, go off-site to an #engineering business for a tour, and meet an #engineer!
Sponsoring a placement will allow a child, who might not otherwise be able to, attend for free.
We hope the recipient of the voucher, which has been donated to our local Chesterton CE Primary School, has a #fun and #inspiring week!

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards for an 8th year running.
Since the awards were launched in 2017, High Spec have been founding #committee members representing SMEs, various category #sponsors, headline sponsor twice, and for the last two years our Executive Director, Sarah Jaycock, has also co-hosted the event at the stunning Williams F1 Conference Centre in Grove.
Sarah commented “The OA Awards really are a highlight of my year with so many #inspirational people and businesses in attendance. I especially love seeing returning faces, and witnessing just how #rewarding and #progressive #apprenticeships can be!”
It is no doubt, we take inspiration from the event and apply some of the greater ideas to our own provisions. High Spec will be opening applications for Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships in #Motorsport / #Engineering throughout June 2024.
