One team, one dream 🤝 Graham Cheney and the team at TA2 Racing Australia have generously announced that this years TA2 NZ Champion will be given an ‘all expenses paid’ trip to Australia to compete in the TA2 Australia co-drive event with current TA2 AUS champion Jarrod Hughes This is a massive opportunity for NZ championship winner Caleb Byers to prove his skills internationally An opportunity like this is made possible by TA2 AU and TA2 NZ’s continued collaboration in keeping both nations cars identical, allowing drivers to cross the ditch and compete in both series A vision started by Chas Howe, and the team at Howe Racing Enterprises #nzmotorsport #ta2 #ta2racing

We were incredibly privileged to be joined by TA2 legends Chas Howe and Graham Cheney this weekend Chas Howe is the president and owner of Howe Racing Enterprises, the American powerhouse behind TA2. Building and selling over 500 TA2 cars internationally Graham Cheney is TA2 Racing Australia co-owner, team boss and previous TA2 Australia driver It’s been awesome to host Chas and Graham over the weekend, having multiple key international figure heads of TA2 racing in one place is truly special. We’ve enjoyed showing them the continued growth of the championship here in NZ, and the passion our drivers and fans have for our series Thanks for making the trip to out! @ta2racingaus kicked off its 2026 season at @thebendmotorsportpark (Mar 13–15), setting the tone for a competitive 7 - event season. @jacksonricemotorsport led the way with the overall win, backed by strong performances all weekend. @tylercheneyracing and @tommysm1th_ rounded out the podium in second and third overall. Each scored a race win over the 4-race weekend. A solid start to the season with multiple contenders already making their mark. #TA2RacingAustralia PC: TA2 Racing Australia and Jackson Rice Motorsport

GT America and the Birth of TA2 The original GT America class, born in the mid-1990s with Howe-built cars, was more than a race series—it was a blueprint for accessible, high-performance road racing. Its principles of durability, parity, and driver development directly shaped today’s TA2 class, giving Trans Am a sustainable, competitive platform. While a new series now shares the GT America name, the true legacy lives on every time a TA2 car hits the track. Link to the full story in our bio.

We’re proud to see longtime @dirtondirt contributor and racing historian Bob Markos revisit the story of the U.S. Half-Mile Dirt Track Championship at Tri-County Speedway in 1969. Dirt may not have been his favorite surface, but Ed Howe proved his versatility by taking home a $5,000 payday in the event. The trophy from that win still lives on in our showroom today, more than five decades later.🏆 🔗Link to full story in bio.

🔧 Ball Joint Torque Spec Reminder 🔧 Because ball joints are a critical safety component, we periodically revisit proper installation procedures. Like any tapered fastener, ball joints must be torqued to spec, seated during practice, and torqued again. A cotter pin does not guarantee the ball joint is tight—it only keeps the nut from falling off. A loose ball joint will flex at the base of the threads until it eventually breaks. Howe Ball Joint Torque Specs: • Lower ball joint (5/8-18 thread): 👉 110 ft-lbs 👉 Tighten past to align cotter pin, do not exceed 125 ft-lbs • Upper ball joint (1/2-20 thread): 👉 55 ft-lbs 👉 Tighten past to align cotter pin, do not exceed 70 ft-lbs 🏁 Rough-Surface Applications (Dirt & Road Racing) 🏁 In harsher environments, keeping ball joints tight is even more challenging. We found ourselves re-tightening them so frequently that cotter pins became impractical. In late 2024, we began testing Nord-Lock wedge washers in place of the standard thick washers, paired with a reusable coiled tension safety pin. The results have been excellent—they stay tight. ✅ We now install ball joints this way on every new car we assemble ✅ We recommend you do the same 🔍 If You Break a Ball Joint Stud, the Failure Tells a Story: • Worn copper plating → joint was loose • Straight break line → loose spindle insert • Spiral or pointed break → suspension bottoming or incorrect taper • Rust on one edge → prior damage before failure Stay safe, torque them correctly, and don’t rely on the cotter pin alone.
