This #NationalHospitalWeek, we’re celebrating the people who live the #HealingHappensHere ideals every day.
From caregivers and clinicians to the teams working behind the scenes, hospitals are powered by incredible people serving their communities with compassion and commitment.
At Howell, we’re proud to support that mission by building the spaces where healing, innovation, and care come together. Not only hospitals and clinical environments, but also simulation labs and healthcare education spaces that help train and support the next generation of healthcare professionals across our region.
Thank you to all the healthcare professionals who continue to inspire us through your work and dedication.
Safety Week may be wrapping up, but the message behind it carries far beyond a single week. Safety isn’t a policy or checklist, but a daily commitment we make to ourselves and to each other.
Key takeaways from this year’s #NationalSafetyWeek :
• Recognize risks early: Slips, trips, falls, struck-by hazards, and transportation incidents remain leading causes of injuries in construction.
• Prioritize ladder and scaffold safety through inspections, stable setup, fall protection, and maintaining 3 points of contact.
• Stay aware of caught-in / caught-between hazards by avoiding pinch points, suspended loads, and unsafe positions around equipment.
• Maintain strong housekeeping practices to improve visibility, reduce hazards, and create safer work areas.
• Avoid complacency: Routine tasks can still become dangerous when focus and awareness slip.
The goal remains the same every single day: everyone goes home in the same condition they arrived. Thank you to everyone who continues putting safety first and protecting the people around them!

Construction Safety Week is a reminder that strong safety cultures are built through communication, awareness, and accountability every day on the jobsite.
This week, Howell Construction Safety Manager, Zach Peachey, has been sharing daily safety insights and industry statistics with our teams to keep safety top of mind and encourage meaningful conversations across the company. His leadership helps reinforce the importance of staying aware, looking out for one another, and taking pride in doing the job the right way. We’re proud to have leaders like Zach helping create safer jobsites and stronger teams every day.
Stay tuned later this week for a full recap of the safety resources and information shared throughout #ConstructionSafetyWeek!
The @blufflakenaturecenter campus improvements are now open, expanding access to nature, education, and community space in East Denver.
These upgrades mean more hands-on learning for students, better access for families, and stronger connections to the outdoors for the entire community. With safer entrances, improved accessibility, and a new education facility, Bluff Lake continues to grow as an inclusive space for learning and stewardship.
In a rapidly growing city, spaces like this matter more than ever, providing equitable access to nature and inspiring future environmental leaders.
Proud to support Bluff Lake Nature Center’s impact 🌿

No Earth = nowhere to build!
This Earth Day, we’re focused on doing our part as builders. A greener future starts on the jobsite:
Top three ways we make an impact:
- Reducing construction waste
- Using sustainable, responsibly sourced materials
- Building with long-term energy efficiency in mind
Because how we build matters just as much as what we build.

Project completion announcement 📢
Located in Greeley, CO, the @nationalboard (NBCE) is a nonprofit organization that plays a critical role in advancing the chiropractic profession through the development and administration of standardized examinations.
To support their mission, NBCE partnered with Howell Construction to create a modern, highly functional environment designed to enhance hands-on testing and evaluation. The result is a fully renovated and expanded facility that strengthens NBCE’s ability to serve candidates across its national network.
The project included a 9,000 SF addition - tripling the center’s operational capacity, along with a 6,000 SF renovation. The upgraded space features flexible testing rooms, simulated clinical environments, and areas designed for real-world chiropractic assessments, all while improving accessibility, circulation, and overall workflow.
We’re proud to help bring this important vision to life!

Big milestone moment 🎉
Howell, @ccdedu , and project partners came together to celebrate the topping out of the Boulder Creek building renovation on the Auraria Campus - marking the final structural piece going into place.
Once complete, the updated building will bring all Health Sciences programs under one roof, with hands-on learning spaces like a nursing simulation hospital, teaching kitchen, dental clinic, and more.
We're excited to be part of a project that’s helping train the next generation of healthcare pros right here in Colorado 🏥

Team Howell took teamwork to the fast lane 🏁
A little friendly competition, a lot of laughs, and a great way to spend time together outside the office. Safe to say - we’ve got some serious drivers (and even better teammates).
Swipe to see our winners!
Congratulations to Howell’s very own Katie Barela for being recognized as a Wise Warrior by @ccdmagazine through the KAWLG and CCD Wise Warriors Program.
This award honors women who have helped shape Colorado’s A/E/C industry through innovation, mentorship, and leadership. It celebrates those whose lasting contributions continue to move the industry forward, and we couldn’t be prouder to see Katie recognized.
As a Senior Estimator at Howell, Katie’s work touches nearly every project that comes through our doors. From helping shape projects and mentoring colleagues to strengthening our teams through her expertise and leadership, Katie truly embodies the spirit of this award.
Her dedication, knowledge, and the lasting impact she’s made on both projects and people make her incredibly deserving of this recognition.
We’re proud to celebrate Katie and the legacy she continues to build at Howell. 👏
Cheers to the women building the future! ✨
The Howell ladies came together last week for a Women in Construction Week luncheon to celebrate the talent, leadership, and impact of women across our industry.
