This month, we at Horror Movie Nights are celebrating Mermay, by playing all mermaid-based horror movies. Our special guest co-host, local indie author @emilygrayblogs and I have a specially selected line-up throughput this month for you guys:
May 5 — the great, scaly grandaddy himself, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON
May 12 — BLUE MY MIND, a dark, psychological take on mermaids about a teen girl’s personal awakening
May 19 — NIGHT TIDE, an obscure horror movie from the 50s starring Dennis Hopper! I haven’t even heard of this one, so serious props to Emily for finding it!
May 26 — And finally, the apex of the monster-loving genre, the Oscar-winning fantasy film from the king of gothic romanticism himself, GUILLERMO DEL TORO’s THE SHAPE OF WATER.
All screenings are on Tuesday at @solune.coffee . Doors open at 7pm EST, intro and screening begins at 7:20 pm. And as always, they are completely for FREE!!!

Horror Movie Night’s Very First Double Feature!!!
This week, we got BLOOD MACHINES and EVENT HORIZON.
One is about space pirates commanding giant women space ships in pursuit of forbidden knowledge from cosmic entities.
The other is about a ship that goes through Hell (literally), and brings back something infernal with it! Hellraiser in space…which technically already happened but the results are a lot better in this case.
Two for the price of one–which is FREE–hosted by yours truly, playing this Tuesday (4/21) at @solune.coffee , starting at 7:20pm. Come and join us for a pants flying good time!

And with that, Animated Horror Month is wrapped up. This has been one of the best months we’ve had at Horror Movie Nights. Great movies, great crowd. I’m 1 year into hosting this event, and I’m amazed by how it has grown and who has come along to join us regularly. Thanks to everyone who showed up. You are who keep this event going.
