✨Here is why I don’t recommend announcing family to stay for pictures ⤵️ At the end of the ceremony, while the officiant should intructs guests to go to the cocktail hour, they should not make an announcement out loud asking family members to stay behind for family portraits.🚫BECAUSE you always have that one person who thinks they are family and they stay for pictures 😫 It’s usually Ms. Sue and her husband from 1920 who stays and then you have to tell them in front of everyone that they need to leave😭 essentially telling them they are not considered family🥹 SO AWKWARD 😬 Instead, at the rehearsal or the week of the wedding, ask for parents to reach out to the family members who should be in the family portraits to inform them to not go to the cocktail hour but to stay for family portraits right after the ceremony 🤎 ***Officiant Unplugged Wedding Announcement*** COMMENT “WED” for the wording ↔️ Ask your officiant to make a brief announcement before the ceremony begins, reminding guests to silence their phones and refrain from taking photos or videos during the proceedings. He is your last reminder to the guests that it is an unplugged wedding ceremony so make sure he makes that announcement right before the start of the ceremony. Here we go! 1 - The kids …. Yep, you can cut them out of your guest list. If you even only have 8 kids which is not a lot, it is still a full table for which you will need a linen, napkins, a centerpiece, flatware, glassware, cake, meal, beverage…. 2 - The extended family you only see at funerals. Probably should be invited to your wedding. This is not a family reunion! 3 - The “we haven’t spoken in 3+ years but they’d be offended”. Don’t expect an invitation if we haven’t spoken in 3 years! You don’t even know who I am at that point. 4 - The co-workers! Know the difference between a work-friend with whom you just surviving your work like and a friend-friend. If you quit your job today, and start a new one, will you still be in touch with your work-friend after 3-4 months? If no, then there are not a friend-friend so they shouldn’t be invited. 5 - Guess what is the 5th type of guests that should not be invited? As always, do you!! It’s your wedding day! This day is not a reunion. It’s your beginning. Protect your peace. Protect your seats. Which one hit the hardest?
