Hound Dog then worked his nostalgic printing magic, thoughtfully hand-setting vintage wood type and inking this label with electric neon colors printed by hand. 2023 marks my 15th year operating full time in Louisville, and my 20th year as a letterpress printer. There have been some changes certainly, but one thing that has never changed, is the āfeast or famineā aspect of running your own business. The past 6 months have been abnormally slow, some of the worst months Iāve had actually. But then last week, the flood gates opened and I was printing like a madman. This is a selection of some of the work I completed in the past week. Iām fortunate to have this work when it comes, and Iām fortunate to get some downtime in between to decompress. However, I do wish work was a little more evenly spread out. But as some wise philosophers once said, āYou take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have, the facts of life.ā

I normally donāt post anything personal, but dang yāall, I canāt get over how cool these tintype photographs look! @rivercitytintype is a true artist and I thank you for capturing my family during this stage of life with such an old and cherished process. Digital photos can be deleted or lost so easily, but I know weāll have these plates for the rest of our lives. If you havenāt visited Rudyās new studio for a session, I highly recommend it.
