📀 VINYL NIGHT RETURNS THURSDAY, MAY 14th at Shoeshine Charley’s Big Top Lounge! 🎉
This one’s shaping up to be a special night.
We’ve got an early show, a local DJ spotlight, stacks of vinyl, and yeah… it also happens to be Leslie’s birthday 🍻🖤
This month’s Vinyl Night spotlight is brought to by our sponsors,
@sigslagoon ,
@wyld ,
@homeslicepizza and features Houston’s own Ali Jackson — aka DJ Count Chocula — bringing a deep crate full of reggae, dancehall, soul, R&B, and groove-heavy selections to the Big Top.
Ali may be known around Houston as a professional tubist and educator, but on Vinyl Night he’s stepping behind the decks and bringing pure analog heat.

A) I typically collect Reggae, 90’s dancehall, 70’s and 80’s soul, pop R&B, 60’s R&B …
Q) How old were you when you started collecting vinyl?
A) I started off by being the “record” custodian of my parents records around the age of 7, when I could reach the record player but standing on a chair.
Q) What was the one record (or records) that got your hooked on collecting vinyl?
A) I bought my first record with birthday money in the 5th grade. Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers - One Bright Day.
Q) Where do you find your vinyl these days?
A) I’ve purchased records from many places. For rare and high quality records, I’ll look on Facebook Marketplace and EBay. For reggae, I’ll look online for overseas retailers.
