Why be Kind? The other day a young lady asked me why kindness is so important to me… I didn’t really have a good answer for her, which bothered me… So I began the process of looking within to find a fitting response. The reason kindness matters so much to me, is because for over 10 years, I was a menace to society…I was drunk 24/7, and didn’t give a dang about anyone or anything. A truly ugly person for more than a decade. Something I’m now deeply ashamed of. So I turned to God, and it has changed everything for me… The desire to drink is gone. My temper is gone. The behavior I was formerly known for … Gone. I believe in God, And I believe in the “karmic bank account”. I believe in it because I know just how far in the red mine is. That’s why the change of heart… That’s why I choose to be kind to everyone around me….To help, any way I can. I have a lot of work to do in order to repay my debt debt to God and society. [ But that’s ok; I’m not scared of work ] The best part is, you can do it too… All you have to do, is stop doing the things you know you shouldn’t be doing. Our sins have already been forgiven…You just have to ask for that forgiveness. It’s guaranteed. -Uncle Hoot #kindness

A prayer from today’s service that really stood out to me……#happyeaster y’all! “God of resurrection and new life, we come before you in the dawn light of Easter, yet we confess that fear still lingers within us. Like the women at the tomb, we have known shock and uncertainty, but unlike them, we too often remain captive to fear-fear of death, fear of loss, fear of what we cannot control. You have rolled away the stone, yet we hesitate at the threshold of hope. We confess that we do not always trust your victory over the grave. In the face of suffering and injustice, we doubt that love is stronger than death. We hold tightly to our familiar anxieties, forgetting that in Jesus Christ you have broken the power of death and freed us from the bondage of fear. Forgive us, we pray. By your grace, loosen fear’s grip upon our hearts. Teach us to hear again the angel’s word: “Do not be afraid,” and to believe it-not only with our minds, but with our lives. Meet us on the road, as you met your disciples, and make us witnesses to your resurrection-a people who live in hope, act in love, and walk without fear.
