Feeling so grateful for this. It’s been a long road to get here. Denied from playing as a kid. Stops and starts with gaps of many years between playing stints as an adult because well, life. And then finally this season which ended up being a bit up and down dealing with a nagging injury (and the flu early on) so I had to miss more games than I wanted to. But to finish it out with a championship with this team felt really special. I’ve never gotten to raise a championship trophy and do a victory lap on the ice before so it truly felt magical to skate down the glass last night and feel that joy as the crowd cheered. This just shows, you’re never too old or “too” anything to fulfill a dream and go after what you want.
Thanks to my teammates for an awesome season of great hockey and fun times on the bench and to @iamnotbeyonce for all the work she does to keep the league up and running week after week. (Also please don’t pay any mind to my helmet hair hahahaha)
Life lately part 1.
It’s been a minute since I posted last, but I figured in 2025 maybe I’ll post more about my life and less pics of bands I took. Or maybe I’ll do a bit both. We’ll see. In any case trying to find whatever happiness and purpose I can in a world gone mad, here’s some proof it’s not all terrible all the time
Getting to see @therealbratmobile after more than 20 years since the last time was beyond a treat, I had so much fun! Without them, I likely never would have picked up a guitar or had the confidence to be a real guitar player in a real band. @ladybiznessnyc may be long defunct now, but the memories I have from that time will live a lifetime, memories that never would have existed had I never picked up my first Bratmobile record in 1998. I have loved @bullythemusic for quite some time now but the stars never seemed to align for me to catch a live show. That is fortunately now a thing of the past and I was so stoked to finally see Alicia Bognanno and her crew tear up the stage on Tuesday night at one of my favorite new places to see a show, Racket. I was so stoked to see @bigjoanieband play back to back nights at Brooklyn Steel opening for Placebo—which were also their very first shows in NYC—what an excellent way to start off my week! They absolutely slayed and I loved getting to hear the material from their new album "Back Home" on the big stage at Steel. They'll be back for their own headlining gigs in NYC in May (5/25 at Union Pool, 5/26 at Baby's All Right), don't sleep on getting tickets! What an absolute treat it was to finally get to see Placebo for the first time when they hit Brooklyn Steel for back to back shows this weekend. I admit I was a pretty late bloomer to this band, but fell in love with them around 5 years ago when I was going through a tough time. I spent the last money I had at the time to fly to LA and sought some emotional refuge with a good friend who put on "Without You I'm Nothing" the first day I was there, hitting me in all the right places in my moment of vulnerability. While they didn't play any of the songs from that album at the shows, they did hit a plethora of other bangers from their lengthy catalog and put on an incredible show. Life has been an insane whirlwind lately and I've hardly had time to think nevermind keep up with shooting and writing BUT I was stoked to take some time out of my insane schedule recently to catch @perennialtheband play at Berlin for a set that was the noisy art punk oasis of my dreams, a much needed salve in a chaotic time for me. They have been one of my favorites discoveries of 2023 and I can't get enough of listening to their latest "In The Midnight Hour." Do yourself a favor and get that in your ears too.
