He is one of the most freakish athletes in the NBA, a 6’7” forward with a 7’2” wingspan, elite burst, and the kind of instincts and motor that make him a terror on both ends of the floor. He plays with relentless energy, crashing the offensive glass, jumping passing lanes, and getting out in transition before defenses can even set up. In Game 6 against the Cavaliers last night, a 115-94 Detroit blowout that evened the series 3-3 heading into a Game 7, Ausar was a force. He finished with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals, shot an efficient 4 of 6 from the field, and posted an eye popping plus 12. He also converted both of his fast break attempts, which is pure Ausar, getting out and finishing in the open floor where his athleticism takes over. With Game 7 on Sunday, he’ll be a crucial X factor for the Pistons.
