(🇬🇧/🇫🇷) Designer Henry Griffin grew up watching Arsenal with his dad. For him, football has always been more than a game — it’s ritual, community, obsession.
What began as a curiosity for a single card — “Congratulations, you’ve just met the ICF” — turned into a full-scale visual documentation of a subculture that blurred the line between humour and menace.
Originally published in 2023 and now expanded with over 20 new cards, Hoolicards is a visual archive of football calling cards from more than 40 infamous UK firms of the 1980s and 1990s.
Each card — part satire, part threat — captures a strange mix of violence, identity, and working-class creativity within British football culture.

Very humbled to be invited to join the “Stars of CCTV” conversation at the British Textile Biennial this Saturday, 11th October, at Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery, alongside Jamie Holman, Andrew Groves and Tom Washington.
