This is what community looks like 🧶✨
In collaboration with @anitamoochi founder of @hooksnlace , and the incredible women from the Crochet for Wellness programme at @kiberadaycareforolderpersons (KDCCE), we’ve brought together a tapestry full of meaning.
These amazingly talented individuals have spend week creating this piece.
See it come to life at @hookd_on_fun on the 30th of May🤍
Every Wednesday our senior citizens meet to share the bits of their lives that they have not been able to talk about throughout the week.
They do this while crocheting and doing things that once made them happy.
Spending time in community with themselves and others allows us to not only take care of our wellness but continuously learn the importance of bringing back craft to their space.
They teach each other and are working towards creating their first communal project, we are so excited to share the progress with them and everyone else.
We all have what we love doing, and there are times when it gets difficult or too heavy to handle,
Our senior citizens have lived many lives, and they have taught us to let go and come back to what we once loved with calmness and excitement, this is what we do at the crotchet classes.
We regenerate their knowledge and share stories together.
A glimpse of how our wellness Wednesdays looks like.
When we started working with @hooksnlace and @gaitanwardrobeke_ we wanted to repurpose generative knowledge that our senior citizens have.
We meet every Wednesday to weave and crotchet and a sense of communal belonging amongst our elders.
