For National Home Remodeling Month, we continue to highlight some stellar remodels. Here's the Best In American Living Awards winner for Best Remodeled Bath, Budget Over $50,000.
The objective was to gut the entire existing unit and recreate a unique, ultra-modern winter home. The challenge was the timeline. Construction could only take place between March-November due to the
building being fully occupied during the winter months. The purchase of the unit was in February; design started right away to be able to go in for permit early March. It took a lot of communication and coordination with the builder to keep things running smoothly; primarily done remotely which added to the complexity and time sensitive need for decisions. A major obstacle was the existing
mechanicals that passed through the unit from above and below. Some of these conditions created issues with the design and required on the fly redesign to accommodate them. The client had been used to living in spaces with high ceilings and wanted to carry that feel over to the remodel. This was
not an option, so we recreated the illusion of higher spaces with LED detail around the perimeter where walls met ceiling, layered drywall, small pop-ups and unique LED details. The white glass tile flooring helped reflect the lighting; giving the space a much larger feel.

Happy National Home Remodeling Month, everyone! To kick things off, here is the Best In American Living winner of the Best Remodel of an Entire Home, Budget $250,001 - $750,000 category.
This 3-bedroom, 2-bath home was no longer working for this young family, so it was time for a big change. With the
addition of a family room and screened porch, reconfigured master suite, addition of a powder bath, proper laundry room, spacious dining room and functional kitchen and adjacent mudroom, all of the owners' needs were met. Upstairs boasts a spacious playroom, dedicated office and walk in attic storage. From custom elements like a hidden bookcase door, custom cabinets, built-ins, hand-hewn beams and even hickory harvested from the property used as the ceiling on the screened porch, this home is now perfect for the couple, their boys and their pets. Function was prioritized in every corner and cedar elements are prominent on the exterior of the home to compliment the warm white paint and brick pavers.
