So so humbled at the response the fundraiser has received! It raised £228.25 so far!!!!! The fact that friends, family, strangers, people from all over the world have contributed their hard earned cash when times are tough to help out this tiny space where a small group of folks go to make music happen is fucking incredible, so we want to say a humungous thank you to everyone who has put in even the smallest amount of coin, it’s hugely appreciated. Friggin stoked to be able to say that it was a success - we’re paying the fee, the contract’s been re-signed, more bands/people are starting to use the room again, and I didn’t need to dip into my overdraft or borrow anything
Also a huge shoutout to the guys in
@bluekubricks for absolutely everything they do for the room and in general, without you House of Love would be history. They’re talented, wise, dedicated as fuck and sick at what they do, AND they were also generous enough to cover a huge chunk of this fee without being asked to. That after being the only band to join and contribute to the rent through the last bit of 2020 after all other bands who used the room pre-covid had (understandably) stopped agreeing to pay rent for a room they weren’t using because there was still hope that everything would be normal again soon enough
The fact that this many people have pooled together to help a tiny community of people keep doing what they love makes me soo happy. I don’t care about how much money House of Love lost because of covid, because there’s enough people out there who like what comes out of that room enough to pick up some of the pieces
Taking over House of Love from Robin 2 years ago was a huge risk, and because of covid it almost flopped. But because of everyone who's helped in any way by buying the comp, having a socially distanced jam with sanitised hands, helping with rent for a room they're not using (shoutout
@tranqua_lite ), or paying me to ramble at them about different ways to count to 4 whilst synchronising their limbs, the risk's paid off! Making big financial/life decisions because of your hobby & having it pay off in any way is the most validating thing ever!! Nice one 💖
