In honor of #OncologyNursingMonth, we’re recognizing oncology nurses who help guide patients through some of the most complex moments in cancer care.
We recently had the opportunity to meet Kassiane Saieed, DNP, AGNP C*, a nurse practitioner at the Duke Women’s Cancer Center, part of @dukecancerinstitute . After starting her career in an oncology unit, Kassi found her passion for breast oncology — where she says she discovered what she loves most about the work: being her patients’ cheerleader.
Today, she helps breast cancer patients navigate treatment and survivorship while supporting their physical, mental and emotional well being. Kassi is also an advocate for personalized care, using tools like Biotheranostics’ @breastcancerindex Test to help inform conversations about long term treatment decisions.
We’re grateful for oncology nurses like Kassi who bring compassion, expertise and advocacy to every patient journey.

To continue our #LabWeek celebration, we’re spotlighting two specialists from our oncology lab in San Diego: Tanya Villalpando and Edson Reyes.
Together with their team, they use our @breastcancerindex Test and CancerTYPE ID Test to help physicians make more confident treatment decisions for patients with early-stage breast cancer or metastatic cancer with an unclear diagnosis.
Tanya helps ensure every patient sample is carefully received, documented and prepared for testing. Edson prepares biopsy samples for analysis, isolating tumor cells for molecular testing.
“One thing that stood out to me when I applied was what the company was doing for patients,” said Edson. “My uncle had been diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer, and cancer runs in my family. The work really resonated with me.”
“Hearing patients say that our test helped them stop a medication that was hurting their quality of life… it’s just so powerful,” said Tanya. “That’s someone’s life. It’s someone’s future.”
