Keeping Uppsala’s cycle paths safe in winter
Uppsala is a city built for cyclists. That also means high expectations when winter arrives, cycle and pedestrian paths need to stay safe and accessible,
day after day.
One of the contractors handling this work is Alexander Dahlen, owner of @admeab.se
"AD Markentreprenad AB".
On behalf of Uppsala Municipality, his team is responsible for snow sweeping and salt spreading on walking and cycling routes across the city.
During periods of heavy snowfall, the same paths may need to be cleared several times a day.
That puts high demands on both machines and operators.
For this work, AD Markentreprenad uses an angle sweeper from Holms. According to Alexander, one of the main advantages of the Holms Angle Sweeper SL, is the fact that it doesn't use support wheels.
Together with the sweepers innovative self adjusting suspension system, it provides a smoother ride and noticeably better comfort for the operator during long shifts.
Ease of maintenance is another factor Alexander highlights. In winter operations where machines are pushed hard and downtime is not an option,
simple and reliable equipment becomes crucial.
In a cycling city like Uppsala, winter maintenance isn’t just about clearing snow,
