@chopnashville removing our shingle oak from our side yard. Unfortunately it was rotting in the canopy and at the roots and need to be removed but there is a ton of great lumber in it. After @goodwoodnashville mills and fries the lumber for us we are looking forward to making some cool pieces out of it!
It’s been a sad couple of weeks at HD’s home base. After several years of trying to save it (and many monies) we had to make the difficult decision to remove the shingle oak from our side yard. We affectionately named it Treesus and I considered it my spiritual advisor. It was one of the main selling points for me when we bought the house but over the last couple of years it started dropping more limbs and started showing fungal growth at the roots. The ice storm was the last straw unfortunately. The oak dropped a 30’ long, 18” diameter branch on our deck, just a few feet away from where we sleep. The team from @chopnashville did a great job of removing the tree and we are having the team @goodwoodnashville help mill and dry the lumber. I am sad to see it go but I am looking forward to making Treesus into some furniture pieces once the lumber is ready. Stay tuned!

Lastly, in case you were wondering, the stump is 64” across. We got (4) roughly 10’ logs out of the trunk. Each log was around 30”-40” in diameter. The tree itself was 80’+ tall. Each log weighed around 7,000-8,000 lbs. It is sad to see all the Nashville trees go after the ice storm but hopefully they will be put to good use.
Custom Sculpture Pedastal getting the final touches before powder coat. Filling any holes in the welded seams then grinding and sanding smooth. Then fitting a removable panel so the sculpture can be bolted from underneath. Whoop. There it is.

Everybody has those tasks that they put off over and over. Ours is never actually laying down any protective layer in our spray booth floor resulting in about 8 years of finish buildup. 🤷🏻♂️ Looks like we have some HD #fordite now.

I had to wait on some parts but finally wrapped up these a-frame sign holders for @neuhoff_district@newcityproperties Just finished welding on a hinged stop that will allow the client to toss on a sandbag/weight for extra windy days. Next stop: powder coating
