We are beginning to feature local Portland artists and makers at our N Mississippi Ave location for ‘Third Thursday on Mississippi Ave’! We are so excited to feature our first local maker in this series, Lo Gonsalves!
Lo Gonsalves is an artist and tattooer originally from Southwest Florida and currently based in Portland, Oregon. They received their BFA in Illustration at Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2015, and began tattooing in 2020. Their work predominantly focuses on the natural world through plants, animals, and landscapes touching on themes of nostalgia, fantasy, and medieval art history through the lens of combining folk art and traditional themes in tattooing with detailed fineline rendering. Working primarily on paper media with ballpoint pen and gouache, they create compositions that combine these elements to create isolated symbolic vignettes.
