Wanted to do a little #meettheartist to properly introduce myself on this account - My name’s Hob and I’m an aspiring set dec! I’m at UCA studying Design for Theatre & Screen :-) Looking forward to putting more on this account when I get back to uni 🫧💌🫛🧃💿
Idea shamelessly stolen from my friend @ki_tw0 - go check out his art!
final FMP post - four props from Tintin’s apartment! The model ship ‘unicorn’, the chimú statuette from The Broken Ear, a Chinese lantern, and a box of Ki-Oskh cigars :) ⚓️🪢🪵🏮🧧🏺📜
FMP!! my final project is imagining the tintin stories as a tv show set in the late 60s :) This is tintin’s apartment built in sketchup and rendered with VRay! 🎞️🧸🗺️🗞️🏮

belated minor project post… My adaptation of Homer’s Iliad set on the Olivier stage at the @nationaltheatre . My intention for this project was to combine the traditional classical visuals of the Iliad with 1st World War aesthetics to create a more contemporary association, combining large scale puppetry and projecting to create a grand spectacle on stage. The final product is a 1:25 scale coloured theatre model. 🎖️📯🍇🌊🌬️🗡️🏺⛰️
I had the privilege of working with @rurallifelm to make prop food for their 1950s prefab house!! I recreated food from the 1940s and 50s, inspired by rationing recipes and movements like canning and digging for victory. I had great fun researching, making and installing these and am so proud to have my work on display!! 🍓🥧🥫 If you have a chance to check out the rural life living museum please do, it’s a fantastic place and my work will be on display for the foreseeable future!
2nd unit of 2nd year complete! This project challenged us to recreate a painting in lifesize 3D. I worked with @fellisondesign to recreate Eric Ravilious’ ‘train landscape’ as an immersive installation peice. We worked with zero budget for this and everything down to the fabric is 100% handmade. This has definitely been my favorite project of uni so far and I’m excited to make more big builds in the wood studio next year!! 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
submission for this term -A saxon style great banquet hall made for my folk horror film adaptation of Macbeth. It is a white card model in 1:50 scale! The hammerbeams are made with the laser cutter :) 🏴🪦⚜️🗡️🩸
Pt 2 of the puppet project! This is a three man puppet of St Arfin, an original character from my D&D campaign 🕯️🐏⚜️🌾
their body is made from card, tape, and split pins, and their head is sculpted from papier maché, first in newspaper then in white paper. The horns and ears were sculpted seperately and then fixed together with a final layer of papier maché once everything was dry :-)
Hawkeye from M*A*S*H for my puppet project! 🪖🚁🍸
He has a fabric body with hand sewn clothes and his boots are air-dry clay. His head was sculpted in clay and then covered in silicone and plaster to create a two part mould. I cast his head in Jesmonite and fibreglass, and used milliput to fill in any bubbles once it had dried :-)
(@ruth - forgive the lack of progress photos. I made the mould two days after I left hospital lmao)
