Story Time for those interested
I did my first beauty test shoot back in 2024.
And I hated it.
So I quit.
I quit because it demanded me to become better.
I had to learn how to use photoshop to get that polished look you see from beauty photographers.
When I opened photoshop for the first time, the first question that came to mind is:
Where do I even start?
I couldn’t answer that question.
So I would close photoshop shortly after and run back to my comfort zone: Fashion Photography.
As months went by, the itch to do a beauty shoot arose again.
And I got a lot better at lighting since then.
And @evotoai was sooo good at doing the heavy lighting for retouching like Dodge and Burn, removing blemishes etc.
So I decided to give beauty photography another go.
But this time I assembled the dream team.
I got a Makeup artist, a model I would enjoy shooting with, a co-director to help with directing the models during the shoot and a videographer.
Then I get a course on Photoshop from @retouchlikeme
And I was able to achieve this photo you see here today.
Only took about 2 years but it’s doesn’t matter.
The process is the process.
The takeaway from this experience for me was this.
If I view something as hard, I am setting myself up to struggle to prove myself presumption right.
But if view as something new and allow myself the grace to make inevitable mistakes it makes embarking on a new venture less daunting.
