The HMM Woven Plate began as a collaboration with AKAME, a restaurant in Pingtung built around Taiwanese indigenous cuisine and culture. The pattern comes from a traditional shell-flower basket, a form originally made from interlaced, flexible material. HMM and Spring Pool Glass rendered that geometry in recycled glass, flat and permanent, the weave locked in place rather than held by tension.
The result is an object that carries the visual logic of one craft tradition into a completely different material. It doesn’t simulate a basket. It borrows the pattern and asks what changes when the material does.
