I know my Dad would’ve been beaming with pride to know that his fierce granddaughter carries his name 💗
Anyone that knew my dad knew that he fought a long fight. He defied every odd, expectation, and medical fact. He was an anomaly, and stubborn until the very end. He will be remembered by us, and also by everyone who ever encountered him over the years, for so many things, least of all for the the illnesses he battled over the past 14 years.
He was an educator and an entertainer. He taught me history and he taught me Italian (poorly). He taught all of the fathers in the neighborhood to cook, and he did his best to teach me that too. He taught me how to clean calamari, and what to spot at the fish market.
We will miss his pasta every Monday night. And in true Alberto fashion, pasta was the last meal he ate. It was fitting that so many memories people have shared over the past week have revolved around pasta and his love of cooking.
He always kept us on our toes, never a dull moment. It feels fitting that the night he passed away my Green Card was approved. Like he was with me, across an ocean, still making magic happen. I’m so happy because of it that I can finally fly home to be with my family.

10.01.22 Being married to you is the absolute best.
We got married in the morning at the Botanic Gardens in Denver. My Big brother walked me down the aisle and my best friend Echo married us. My father woke up at 3am to watch from Australia, and I was very late because I wrote my vows last minute (shocking).
Happy anniversary can’t wait for a million more 🤍
