Since its founding in 2000 by @lisachristensenmh , Hong Kong Cleanup (@hkcleanup ) has empowered over 1 million participants to remove more than 11 million kilograms (24.25 million pounds) of trash from coastlines, country trails and urban areas across the region. And this year, they’re celebrating their 25th anniversary! 🎉
As they celebrate the incredible milestone of a quarter century of work to protect our ocean, they are recommitting to their mission of fostering environmental stewardship, advancing data-driven solutions and inspiring the next generation of ocean defenders. 💙⚡️🎶 We were honored and thrilled to have been chosen by @coldplay and @lovebuttonorg as a community action partner for their #MusicOfTheSpheres tour, in HK - an initiative rooted in love and purpose, for people, and the planet! 🌊
Coldplay is setting a powerful example by cutting tour emissions by 50%, using renewable energy, planting a tree for every ticket sold, and supporting groups like @theoceancleanup .
In every city, they collaborate with local organizations to take meaningful action—like Hong Kong Cleanup! 💙💚💛
Together, we collected hundreds of plastic bottles, tangled fishing nets, and foam debris—helping restore our shoreline and protect our ocean.

We headed back to Lamma this weekend, where our amazing volunteers showed up despite the weather and got straight to work, removing over 1000kg of trash from the coastline.

As we wrap up Earth Month, we’ve been reflecting. 🌍
April gives the world a reason to pause and think about the planet we share. But for us, it never really started, because we never really stopped. 💙
Weekend after weekend, this community has shown up. And what this month has reminded us more than anything is that the ocean doesn’t get a month. It needs all twelve. 🌊
The plastic doesn’t stop washing up on April 30th. So neither do we.

🌊 Big energy out at Stanley with the @rabobank team!
114 volunteers showed up ready to get to work, bringing focus, teamwork, and a great attitude to the beach. In just one session, they removed 169 kg of waste, from small plastic fragments and styrofoam to larger items like an abandoned canoe.
Always great to work with organisations like @rabobank that back environmental action in a real, hands-on way. 🙌

🚨The longer waste stays on the beach, the more it spreads, across sand, into rocks, and back into the sea.
What starts as a few visible items doesn’t stay that way. Tides move debris along the shoreline, smaller pieces get buried or trapped, and over time it becomes much harder to remove. 🚮
That’s why timing matters. Regular cleanups help remove waste early, before it breaks down or travels further.
Hong Kong Cleanup works with volunteers and teams across the city to do exactly that, showing up consistently.
