Peacock - another session on this back piece from a couple of weeks ago, I forgot how much I love doing feathers. The colour shift on a peacock - teal into gold, that iridescent quality - is one of those things that sounds straightforward until you’re actually trying to recreate it on skin. You can’t just copy the reference photo. You have to interpret it, figure out what your eye is actually responding to in the original and rebuild that in a completely different medium. Really happy with how this one’s developing. Nature pieces are something I want to take more of this year - florals, animals, anything with that kind of colour complexity.
