Today on Transgender Day of Remembrance we remember and honour trans+ people who have been taken away from us because of systems that are inherently violent towards us and which enable and encourage violence towards us. It is heartbreaking and infuriating that since last TDOR in 2024, 326 more lives have been brutally taken. This is a reflection of the time we’re living in and how for a lot of trans+ people, it’s a fucking struggle just to be alive right now. The constant debate over our existence, retraction of rights to be in public spaces, and support for people actively working to take away our rights (looking at you JK Rowling) is more exhausting than ever. Especially for people part of other marginalised groups who also face oppression and violence from the systems that exist in this country. And that’s just in the UK - just a glance over the list of people we have lost this year will show you that most lives lost have been in countries where it is much riskier and deadlier to be trans+. The bravery it must have taken to fight to exist as their true selves. They should not have had to fight and be brave. Now is the time more than ever to show up for the trans community. If you’re already speaking up, great but awareness is not enough. Put your money where your mouth is- buy from trans+ creators, hire trans+ people, go to demos, donate money or time to organisations, mutual aid funds and personal healthcare fundraisers. Check in personally on your trans+ friends and community and LISTEN to them, really listen. Stand up to oppression in all its forms- all our fights are connected!! OH MY GOD TRINITY!! THAT WAS INCREDIBLE! Thank you for having us and showing us so much love, we are so grateful to be able to a part of the @bristoltrinity 50th anniversary of music celebration and what a day it was. Well God damn... What a huge honour to be playing Trinity Garden Party.. an incredible community venue and being a part of the start of Bristol summer! We'll be playing today at 4pm!! What a gorgeous co-op, community space you have gotten yourselves, best green room yet, the BEST sound tech and we got to play with a couple of talented, powerful, radical people! Our next gig is 10th May @bristoltrinity for Trinity Garden Party at 4pm get down to see us tearing it up. We have been watching @livwynter from afar for a while and absolutely love the message they spread, the power in their words and being and and their presence in the activist sphere too. @marrrged had the most haunting full body goosebump inducing voice and such a beautiful joyous energy! Strength and softness was the order of the night! WE LOVE PIEHOUSE!! We love when we get to play in local community spaces and get to see the radical acts of community amidst gentrification and commodification of third spaces.
