At the Asian Cinerama screening of ‘All the Long Nights,’ director MIYAKE Sho shared insights into his gentle and peaceful approach to filmmaking. Despite focusing on a young man and woman, MIYAKE clarified that the film was not intended to be romantic. Instead, it examines the nature of work and employment, exploring how individuals can find fulfillment and satisfaction in their professional lives.
Although the protagonists endure painful conditions, the film deliberately avoids explosive or dramatic portrayals. MIYAKE explained that the decision to depict their lives with tenderness and serenity reflects their deepest wish: to live as ordinary people, capable of controlling their emotions. The film, in turn, grants them a sense of peace through its storytelling.
Sound and music played a pivotal role in crafting ‘All the Long Nights.’ AFA18 Best Original Music nominee Hi’Spec described collaborating with MIYAKE as a joyful experience, as their shared vision focused on creating a tender, melodic atmosphere. Since the lead characters are voice actors, Sho was captivated by their beautiful voices, even writing additional lines and monologues to give their voices a center stage.

From experimental hip-hop to orchestral scores, each composer brings a unique harmonic vision to cinema.
Hi’Spec is a renowned independent hip-hop artist and longtime collaborator of director MIYAKE Sho. KIM Tae-seong has scored South Korean blockbuster epic The Admiral: Roaring Currents. KATSUMOTO Michiaki is known for his distinctive soundscapes, while Wan Pin CHU contributed to the record-breaking, the highest-grossing animated film globally, Ne Zha series. They will share their creative process and how music elevates storytelling beyond the screen.
