Found video I shot from 2012 of Ti Parks doing his duffle coat performance. Ti sadly died a few years after this show at the Cello Factory.
It seems to suit our distracted times…..
Following is a text he wrote accompanying the performance:
Duffle Coat
The enigma of Ti Parks’ “Duffle Coat” is never explained. Its choreography is loose and for no fixed time. The performer can be replaced and the coat itself is interchangeable.
Duffle coat has been performed at the Barbican Gallery. Schwitters ‘Merznite’ at the Victoria and Albert Museum……………. and at the opening of the National Gallery of Victoria in Federation Square in Melbourne. He also showed one of his tent installations and selection from his project ’10,000 collages’ “There is a resonance here with sociologically oriented conceptions of the tactical character of everyday practices…… The idea that small-scale resistance and empowering acts of adapting larger structures to one’s own needs are both possible and necessary…”
