Some productions stay with you long after the cameras stop. During the Figura Offida Festival 2025, I had the privilege of filming German performance artists Markus and Dorothee of PANTAO in the medieval hill town of Offida, Italy 🇮🇹 To capture empty streets, we met at 5:30am and began shooting at 6am as the sunrise rolled across the stone lanes. Our first location was Santa Maria della Rocca Church, reached by a full-costume uphill walk. I filmed on iPhone 15 Pro Max using Blackmagic Camera App and ND filters, with aerial shots captured on DJI Mini 3 Pro. Dorothee, inside the Grandmother Turtle costume, was incredibly strong through long takes. Markus was calm, supportive and always making sure she could rest between scenes. The beloved Bliss 🐶 took to me straight away, settling by my feet like we already knew each other. As someone who has a Border Collie back home, that meant a lot. Within 70 minutes the town woke up—locals filling cafés for pastries and coffee. Real Italian life beginning around us. Beautiful people. Beautiful town. Beautiful memories. @splorefestival SPLORE FESTIVAL 2026 🪭💃🏻🤩❤️😎🤖🐳👣🧞🕺🏻👩🏽‍🦽🦄 All the feels, not so many late nights, family & friends, teenagers at the gig, feeling good, connected, bathed in the ocean, a sea of people, safe, happy, grateful. HUMANING Thanks to Jamie Larnach @dastardlybounder @jamie_larnach_artist Annie Larnach, Amanda Wright and their team from 1998. Aotearoa New Zealand’s longest running largest music and arts festivals. The first Splore I recall well (I did not know Jamie, Annie or Amanda at that time) but was there with friends in common. Our generation and those after us have grown up with this festival. So many have shared joy, hard work, happiness, dance, costumes, sunshine, rain and mud play here. I know Jamie was shaped by his festival experiences as a child with his parents at Nambassa in the 1970’s (I was there with my father too. This is how we clicked. Turns out our fathers had friends and music taste in common), it’s been lovely to share a life for the last 7 years with someone so passionate about music, art, culture and collective wellbeing. I wonder what will morph or continue of this amazing legacy. We know not how many kids have Splore dust in their bones and what will manifest... In the meantime arohanui Splore Festival THANK YOU 🐙🤩🫶

This is Pennabilli, Province of Rimini in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna. It’s an amazing medieval settlement that dates further back to 4th century BC. Annually the whole city transforms and serves as the backdrop to host the @artistiinpiazza festival now in its 29th year.
