One day not long ago, I was on a whale-watching boat heading out to sea. As I looked to my left, I saw this giant pelican gliding low over the waves right alongside me. Just for a brief second, as I lifted my camera, our eyes connected. And I’m telling you right now, it felt like one of the most truly exhilarating, magical moments I’ve experienced in a very long time. It was sheer bliss, sunshine, salt spray and all.
