Hikoi to one of my favourite women, Santa Lucia. San Geremia is located in the sestiere of Cannaregio. The apse of the church faces the Grand Canal, between the Palazzo Labia and the Palazzo Flangini. The edifice is popular as the seat of the cult of Saint Lucy of Syracuse, whose remains are housed inside. She wears an exquisite sterling silver mask over her face.

The Sotoportegio e Corte del Milion, leading to the courtyard where the family home of Marco Polo was situated, heavily restored in the 16th century after a fire. The puteal there is the remaining well of what began as two. @elizabethswampwitch and I are visiting as many puteal as we can. I highly recommend researching in to how Venetian engineers created courtyards that were deep sand-filtered wells with rain water collected from rooftops and forced up through sand beneath the puteal. Before that, drinking water arrived by boat in wooden barrels.
