i debated whether to post these or not, so here we are now. i was back at the christian cemetery and found many defaced graves this time around. my friend pointed out that they were all armenian graves, which probably happened after the massacres. i understand the rage behind it, but i don't think i can get behind the act. these were ordinary people just living their lives miles away and did not deserve to have their graves defiled after the fact, in my opinion.
I loved painting this.. we have a similar painting of trees in the woods, which i always loved looking at for long periods of time, trying to see and imagine what lay beyond the trees. It has a haunting depth to it that makes you look longer and deeper the more you stare at it. I tried to do something similar with this..
