High Point is the heartbeat of the Carolina Core region, and this edition is our way of honoring that. BIG NEWS for downtown High Point! New housing is coming in December 2027! 🏠✨ Showplace West — the iconic corner building that's been part of our downtown since 1974 — is being transformed into Elwood on Main: 143 brand-new homes right in the heart of the city. The vision, driven by @downtownhighpointnc , is to bring people home to downtown, offering vibrant livability to our community and, in turn, residential supporters to our small businesses in and around downtown. "I am a big proponent of housing first," explained Rebekah Cansler, Executive Director of Downtown High Point. She gave us the behind-the-scenes look at what's being preserved and transformed at the historic property, and how Elwood on Main is poised to bring something brand new to our city. Bank, plaza, restaurant, showroom — and now, finally, home! Showplace West has been a lot of things to High Point over the past 50 years. But its next chapter might just be its best one. Because this is the kind of project that doesn't just fill a building... Just in time for Mother's Day — this one's for the moms who build their dreams with the next generation in mind! 🌸 Millis Square, High Point's iconic pink brick building, is more than a business hub. It's a three-generation love letter from a family of women who believed in their city — and in each other. 💌 It started with Carolyn Wilson, who opened her boutique Selections inside the historic building in 1972, at a time when female entrepreneurs were few and far between. Her daughter Anna watched, learned, and eventually carried the torch — turning the space into a launching pad for women-owned businesses across High Point. Now Anna's own daughters, Carolyn and Mari-Taylor, are part of the story too.
