finally sharing one of the largest projects to date - fabricating and installing multiple Alder wood pieces for the YouTube activation in the artist compound at Coachella this year. it went live yesterday, and it was quite the journey to get to this point!
this space was designed by my dear friend
@bogartandmoore . she approached me and
@aaronmichaelwood asking if we could build key featured elements that would be focal points of handcrafted warmth. we of course jumped at the opportunity, even though we were also committed to a full custom Walnut kitchen and a ten foot tall wooden rocket (pictures of those projects coming soon…)
in addition to building, transporting, and installing these pieces, there was much communication and coordination between us, the design team, and the scenic fabrication team to ensure our elements would blend seamlessly and achieve the desired look and feel. with a fast approaching deadline, we got to work!
Alder wood elements of the space we contributed were,
central ottoman
“breeze block” divider walls
angled and slatted wall
inset shelves and lower grille covers
tv surround
upholstery for the ottoman was done by
@nathinivandermeer , and the inset shelves and tv surround we farmed out to
@noshlick , as there simply wasn’t enough time to get everything done! huge thanks to our friends for coming through to help make this happen. everybody leaned in, locked in, and came together to ensure we delivered.
swipe through for photos and a video of the finished space, as well as a look at some of the process (featuring my kiddos who were first to test out the ottoman in my shop 🥰).
this project was quite the whirlwind, and I’m so proud of how it turned out, and the efforts of everyone involved. it will be up through this weekend and next weekend at Coachella in the artist compound, so come through and take a look if you can!
