A few opted for a second day with elephants. Elephant Nature Park is home to a number of elephants rescued with injuries sustained from years of working; here they get to live out their lives in a natural environment. Awesome experience!
Day 1 with the ELEPHANTS. Fun experience feeding and then watching the elephants get bathed. (Notice the elephant laying on its side with its trunk poking out of the water.
Visit to Long Neck Village, outside of Chiang Mai. Girls start wearing rings at a young age and increase by one ring each year. Rings end up weighing about 20 pounds.
Visit to Meo Hill Tribe Village, outside Chiang Mai. Big girl approached our guide with offer to pose for pictures for a coin. Her little sister showed up later crying, cause she wanted coins. They both went home with coins in their purses…
Finished (2) rounds of golf AND learned some new phrases. “Monkey help” when you get a good bounce off a tree! “Monkey asleep” when you end up in the sand and “Feeding the crocodile” when you end up in the water…
Since my travels to Malaysia, years ago, I have wondered about Durian fruit…some have described it as smelling like an outhouse. So, I ran across Durian ice cream and gave it a try…let’s just say the outhouse smell combined with a gasoline kinda flavor is one that I won’t forget!
A heavy day taking in history about WWII, specifically related to POWs. Visited a war cemetery, the Death Railway Museum, took the train over the bridge of River Kwai and visited Hellfire Pass.
