And that’s a wrap! I’ve just finished the first semester of my second year at @head_mediadesign , where our main focus was our thesis.
River Aesthetics investigates the allure of rivers through the lens of environmental aesthetics by exploring sensory, conceptual, and mediated forms of engagement.
During the semester, I also had the opportunity to share the stage with other design master’s students from across Switzerland at the Junior Design Research Conference, hosted in Zurich at the Zurich University of the Arts (@zhdk_design ), where we presented and discussed our theses. Ecstatic to share that my work is exhibited at the last phase of 'Motion Evolving' in Beijing. The exhibition is the largest and most comprehensive show of motion graphics in China.

This weekend is International Dawn Chorus Day! To celebrate, I’m joining Reveil 13 for a special live broadcast from La Pointe de la Jonction.
I’ll be using my DIY hydrophone to capture the underwater sounds of the rivers. Hosted by @sound_camp , this event features a 24+1 hour live loop of the Earth, following the sun at civil dawn as it travels west.

Made some hydrophones based on a tutorial from Félix Blume (@felixblume ). I couldn't find the Plasti Film here in Geneva, but I watched a YouTube video by Jonas Fasching (@jonas_fasching ), a Swiss-based artist who followed the same tutorial and used MEM Water Stop instead to waterproof the device, so that's what I did as well.

About the Project
'Co-Haviation' is a strange yet familiar world where only birds and planes exist. Informed by field research of the Geneva airport, viewers of this passive interactive experience can explore the co-habitation of the human-made and natural environment through a bird's eye view. Subtle cues on the ground and more obvious plane congregations guide viewers to switch between birds and discover the central location of this imagined world.

Taking a moment to share some WIP for my master’s diploma project in Media Design at HEAD–Genève (@head_mediadesign ). This will give me some time to reflect on what I’ve done so far which I’m hoping will contribute to my process in some way. I'm still in the research-creation phase by exploring technical skills, object making, and field recording.
The original function of a listening stick is to detect leaks in pipes. It works as an analog object and with a trained ear, one can hear a faint hissing sound from the pipe if there is a leak. There are electronic versions which I’ve tried to re-create, but in my own DIY way.
