26 years ago today, just five days after your own 26th birthday, you brought an 8-pound, head-full-of-hair babygirl into the world.
From the very beginning, we’ve grown up together in so many ways. Every stage of life, every milestone, every first, you’ve been right there by my side. You were learning motherhood while I was learning the world, & somehow you made even the hardest seasons feel safe. From little girl talks to the grown woman conversations we have now, you have ALWAYS been my constant.
There has never been a moment in my life where I questioned if I was loved by you. Your love has always been loud, intentional, protective, & unwavering. You have spent your entire life pouring into your children and making sure we had everything we needed, even during times when I know it wasn’t easy for you.
Josephine Marian, you are truly a mother like no other. Every sacrifice you have made for the boys and I has never gone unnoticed. The long days, the prayers, the tears, the hard decisions, the sleepless nights, & all the moments you put yourself second so we could be okay.
You are one of the strongest women I know. Your resilience, your faith, your softness, your heart, & your ability to love people through absolutely anything are qualities I hope to carry within myself forever.
You are my favorite part of every single day. My safe place. My best friend. My biggest supporter. My forever home. There is NOBODY else in this world I laugh harder with, cry harder with, or feel more understood by.
It’s me and you until the very end… & I guess your other kids can tag along too
& honestly, I wouldn’t want to share my special day with anyone else. God knew exactly what He was doing when He made our birthdays five days apart. Out of all the people in the world, I’m so thankful He chose you to be my mother.
To my forever girl, my first best friend, and everything in between. I love you endlessly.
I may be the birthday , but you truly are God’s greatest gift to me. Happy Mother’s Day ❤️

Sometimes, no words are needed
Me leaving without an explanation was the reason.
The realization that this is no longer serving its purpose lets me know that the leaves are falling and you’re out of season
What was once flavorful is now bland; your presence is tasteless
The craving for your voice has withered away in my soul and I no longer view you as the epitome of greatness.
The reason behind it all? You were amazing for my season of summer, but now we’re in fall.
Your tree began to lose its liveliness at a time where I needed it all.
Communication became stale; bread broke when it shouldn’t have.
Memories of intimacy became feint as my desires for you were cut in half.
We had something, but now we have nothing
You understand this too, so a non verbal departure won’t be too heart crushing.
No love lost but all lust has left.
“Ghosting” to some may seem childish, but today, I believe it’s for the best.
