Floral Order Gatherers: What they are, and what to know about them? Order gatherers are third party online companies that deceptively advertise as your local neighborhood flower shop. For example, “Your Local Martin City Florist!” Once an order is placed through an order gatherer, they then turn to real flower shops to fulfill it, keeping an average of 40 - 60% in commission from hidden service, handling and convenience fees. The flower shop then has mere pennies to design and deliver an arrangement, often resulting in unsatisfied customers whose loved one receives an arrangement much smaller and less impressive than what was promised by these 3rd party companies. Here’s what to look for to avoid ordering flowers through an order gathering service: 🌼 When googling, “Flower shops near me,” these are usually the first, and often sponsored, links listed. 🌼 Check for a street address near you. Many times, these companies won’t have an address listed, but may advertise to be in your city. 🌼 Call the company directly to confirm they are in your town, and not at a national call center. 🌼 If you are still skeptical that the florist you are choosing is an order gatherer, call your local funeral homes and ask for floral recommendations. They see lots of arrangements, and can give you names of their favorite shops in your area! Sidelines does NOT work with order gatherers, only directly with our customers.
