Last night, my band - @forqstagram - played at @zigzagjazzclub Berlin and pro sound man #JoeMaubach came out to the gig. How long have I known Joe? This photo is from perhaps 1997?? Joe took this photo at his house while we were on tour with the great @billevanssax - certainly a formative gig for me. I don’t remember who else was on that tour but that’s none other than the great #victorbailey on bass!! He was one of the greatest to ever hold the instrument!!! We had some very special times on those tours (there were multiple). I hav NO idea what my fashion vision was back then…. ‘Post college idiot?’ In any case it’s a moment to remember. Thank you Bill, thank you Joe, Thank you Victor! ( what am I doing with the tambourine?!?!)

Yesterday, I learned of the passing of well-known English theatre producer, Robert Fox. I got to know Robert during the creation of Lazarus. Robert was a kind and thoughtful man and he played a large role in helping a long-time friend, David Bowie, to bring a lifelong dream to fruition - the creation of the theatre work - Lazarus. I recall several meals with Robert. He was always insightful and caring about the work. He will be missed. Gone too soon. Rest in peace Robert.

10 years ago today: This was the evening of the premiere of @davidbowie theatre piece - Lazarus, a lifelong dream of his. What an amazing experience it was to be a part of it all. I think that all of us who worked closely on this project would describe it as life changing.
Bowie musical collaborators Mark Plati and Henry Hey join me on my interview show today to discuss the upcoming Sound and Vision of David Bowie concert in New York, which features an all-star cast of Bowie alumni performing his music from January 8–11. This has become an annual concert around the time of Bowie’s birthday—I attended last year—and it’s a nearly spiritual experience. This year’s show will feature Brian Delaney, Catherine Russell, Donny McCaslin, Everett Bradley, Gail Ann Dorsey, Gerry Leonard, Jim Boggia, J.J.
