The pedestrian movement has long been led by femmes who experience firsthand the realities of caregiving in cities that often fail to design public space with children, strollers, play, rest, safety, and dignity in mind. From school drop-offs to crossing dangerous intersections, this work is deeply personal.

El movimiento peatonal ha sido liderado por muchas femmes que viven de primera mano los retos del cuidado en ciudades donde el espacio público muchas veces no está diseñado pensando en niñas, niños, carriolas, descanso, juego, seguridad y dignidad. Desde caminar a la escuela hasta cruzar calles peligrosas, este trabajo es profundamente personal.

We had a nice stroll down memory lane yesterday! We met with @elliott_shaw@heybikela@heyimwalkinghere at our old stomping grounds in Silver Lake for a Sunset 4 All Ride to the @clockshopla annual Kite Festival in LA Historic. Along the route to the festival, we stopped at intersections and @elliott_shaw talked about how @ladotofficial planned to make these very dangerous intersections for pedestrians, safer.
Many people have been fighting for a safer Sunset Blvd in the Silver Lake/Echo Park area for almost two decades. In that time we’ve lost friends, family, and neighbors to traffic violence along this strip of Sunset. How many more deaths will it take for people to understand that we need a safe street for everyone, not just for the parked cars and those in cars. We need Bus Lanes, protected bike lanes, shortened cross walks, and slower speeds on Sunset Blvd. If you are anti-gondola but not pro safer streets for all travelers, then you seriously need to get yourself educated. We’re looking at y’all @elysianparkla !!!

Bike to Clockshop’s Kite Festival with BikeLA and community partners for a family-friendly feeder ride through the proposed Sunset/Chavez Mobility Project, ending at Clockshop’s Kite Festival at LA State Historic Park.
We’ll roll from Sunset Triangle Plaza at turtle-speed and arrive together for a free, all-ages celebration filled with kite flying, live music, art workshops, and community energy—expect a sky full of color and a park full of life.
