we lost the best guy last week. my dad, Ladi, is one of a kind and was loved by everyone who ever met him.
everything I know, and love, and am good at, I can trace back to him. he is a creative to his core, always playing, experimenting, making anything he came in contact with more beautiful. he was the funniest most genuine person I’ve ever met and continues to inspire me to be my most authentic self. If you ever met him, you know. he probably made you laugh, or gave you avocados, or some herb, or gushed about me to you. he’s the best.
my parents have lived the greatest love story I’ve ever witnessed. together for 47 years and his devotion to loving and supporting my mom (another legend) was unwavering and unparalleled. he set the bar high and together they showed my brother and I what true love and partnership is. his kindness, humor, creativity, skill, passion, and warmth will always stay with me and guide me.
it’s hard to imagine life without him and at the same time, I always knew this day would come. while I can’t hug him or call him anymore, I can feel him everywhere. at our beautiful family home that he designed almost every inch of, at the farmers market when I see all of his vendor friends, in my apartment when I lay on the bed he built for me, in my car that he helped me pick out, pay for, and would refresh the duct tape on 12 years later. everywhere. I’m so grateful to have even met him let alone to have the honor of being his daughter.
thank you so much to everyone who has reached out, sent heart warming gifts, or held me during this time. If you have a fond memory of him, I would love to hear it.
have a nice a trip, dad. all the besta for the resta. never forget you. 💛🌞
