NABJJF : The Grand Finale - No Gi
I want to shout out my opponent who had no one in his age bracket and chose to compete against me. The amount respect and appreciation to putting himself in situation of going up against someone 15 years younger, is nothing short of honorable. I hope he continues to prosper, train and never give up!

Finals - JJ Tournament V2
I failed to pull guard into the De La Riva and got stuck in half guard.
It gave my opponent the opportunity to keep pressure on me while he attacked my arm for an americana or arm bar.
I started to set up a lapel choke for when I would transition into a close guard but found it difficult to execute overall.
He tried to throw my legs around for an opening and left me to escape for a moment before landing back in half guard.
I transitioned into close guard again and attempted to attack for an arm bar that was not set up properly.
Now in the turtle position I feared a bow n arrow choke and relied on a front roll to hopefully escape from him taking my back.
After a gator roll to escape, it left me back into half guard then close guard. Which I attempted the lapel choke again for the final seconds of the round.
The round ended with no submissions from either of us and resulted in overtime. I chose to take his back but was only able to hold him for 15 seconds before he escaped. He took his turn, taking my back and with 15 seconds on the clock it was not enough for me to escape.
The match was over, my opponent secured the win and I took 2nd place.
He was a tough opponent, quickly shutting down my guard pull, pinning me for a majority of the match leaving me to fight hard for better positions.
Overall I’m glad with the match and the insight I have left with, needing to work and refine my technique.
Semi Finals - JJ Tournament V2
I attempted to incorporate some new De la Riva sweeps and had a hard time as my opponent quickly caught on, controlling my legs.
I definitely need to work on my takedown game as it is non existent.
I was able to recover from side control to a close guard which gave me the opportunity to sweep, take mount and transition to the back.
Finally from the back I went for a bow n arrow choke that was missed but was still able to achieve a collar choke resulting in the submission in under 3 minutes.
My opponent fought well which did not make it easy, shutting down my position, keeping pressure from top and hitting a clean sweep.
