NEW GUEST ROASTER!!! 🚨☕️
This May, we are incredibly excited to bring Charlotte, North Carolina’s @hexcoffee to Doubles for the first time! In an extremely competitive market that is quickly becoming a quiet coffee capital in the US, Hex stands apart with delightfully clean & expressive offerings, expertly roasted lighter than most!
Every month we feature two coffees from our guest roaster for the Doubles Coffee Club (visit the link in our bio to join ❤️)! The coffees will also be featured as part of our brew bar so you can enjoy them in the shop!
First up, we have a hugely vibrant washed Chiroso from Hector Lopez’s small El Susurro farm. This coffee is undeniably bright; tropical aromatics blend atop a deeply green-fruit base of flavors. Lime acidity and melon sweetness provide the cup’s structure to create what is easily one of the most complex coffees we’ve had in the coffee club! Acidity will be hard to tame but will also be your vanishing point for balance.
Second, we have what has quickly become one of our favorite coffees in some time l. This washed Criollo from Jose Gabriel Chamba’s world class La Inmaculada farm even surpasses the coffee we had of his from Hydrangea earlier this year. In a blind tasting, this coffee’s immediate expressiveness, depth of sweetness, and body would trick experienced palates into thinking it has to be a natural processed Ethiopia. That said, it’s highly convertible- a faster, conical brew will provide an exquisitely clear, structured cup.
Our third year purchasing from the humble Demetrio Sanchez Pino. Beautiful articulate yellow stonefruit tones of peach and nectarine over layers and layers of aromatic white blossoms.
We originally met Demetrio in Colombia via our friends at @ositocoffee during their Copa de Oro competition in Southern Huila. Demetrio’s coffee is consistently among the best represented there and this Gesha lot is in my opinion more expressive than many you might find elsewhere for price tags much exceeding this one’s.
Hex Coffee, Kitchen, and Natural Wine in Charlotte aims to reimagine the café with modern minimalist design to let their coffee, food, and wine selections take center stage. Roasting since 2017, Hex views their new café space, complete with a Modbar espresso tap and steam system, as the perfect location to showcase their coffees.

Hex began as a simple pop-up in Charlotte, N.Carolina in 2015 with the goal of creating warm, inviting spaces in unfamiliar places and bringing bright, vibrant coffees to our community.
We work with growers who produce some of the most unique, fruited, and delicious coffees available. Our goal is to illuminate the quality within each of those coffees so its provenance can shine through.
We invite you to enter into our journey with us for the search for bright, fruited, authentic, relationally-based coffee experiences. Discover the joy of intentional moments that celebrate the distinct provenance of each coffee.
Every first Friday of the month, we host a public cupping. Our next one is this Friday (March 6)!
Whether you’re curious about our current portfolio or simply want to deepen your understanding of how we taste and evaluate coffee - this is the perfect opportunity to explore, ask questions, and sip alongside us!
