Hew just dropped a debut single and we can’t stop listening to is (reminiscent of Football Etc.). We also happened to catch Shubby live in Denton last summer and they absolutely blew us away. So excited to announce the debut album from Hew, the new band from Lindsay and Mercy of @footballetc . I promise, if you are a fan of football you will absolutely love Hew! “Your Version” is the first single and title track from the album, and it’s streaming now! The album was recorded at @thirdcoastrecordingco . 1st pressing is gorgeous tri-color vinyl and the artwork by @bigqtattoo is amazing! And beautiful layout by @gaymeatkarl of course. On a personal note, I’ve known Lindsay and Mercy for so long now and been such a fan through the years. It feels amazing and a long time coming to finally work with them on a release. This record is really special and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it! Hew is a Houston, Texas emo band formed in 2024 by Lindsay Minton (guitar, vocals) and Mercy Harper (Bass VI) of football, etc., joined by Amador “Moe” Lerma (drums) and Kris Hoffman (bass). Hew leans into tension—between control and collapse, belief and doubt, past and present. The lyrics move through family fracture and the long tail of memory, where what happened and what it meant don’t always line up. The writing stays inside those contradictions, turning them over rather than trying to resolve them. Hew is unmistakably an emo band, but not a revival act. The songs aren’t built around referencing a specific era. With Hoffman and Lerma in the fold, the band pushes into a tighter, more deliberate sound, opening into bigger melodic hooks that set it apart from Minton and Harper’s earlier work. Bass and Bass VI interlock and pull against each other, shifting between lead and low-end drive while guitars cut through in angular lines. 03.06.26. This show was very special. I’m grateful for all involved and all that were able to attend. It was truly a homie show for homies & the community. Thanks to @soulpudding + @axelradhouston for letting me curate the evening with friends playing their music and for letting me spin my favorite tunes, illustrate and design the poster. To commemorate the evening and tight bond, I wanted to make the poster personal and capture close knit community by illustrating everyone’s furry family member. I hope to be able to book and/or just be a part of more shows like this one. ❤️🤘
