To the boy I've always been, Happy one year Jeremy John, I love you so much. From when we were five and wanted to be a boy or a dog and picked dog because it felt like it was the more realistic choice of the two. To being around eleven and crying ourselves to sleep because our boobs were growing in and that meant, for sure, that we were never going to be a boy - we had to be a girl, our wishes hadn't come true. To now at thirty seven, finally getting to be the goofy guy we've always been. I love you mate, we've got this. I can't wait to grow old with you. ---------- To the girl I was, You did it chick! Tonight I won my first ever art prize ever at @unassigned_gallery for my teeny tiny artwork called "Home Decor" as part of their Ants 3.0 small works fundraiser exhibition! It featured for the first time in last year's Ants 2.0 exhibition and I just had to bring it back. Nour found the perfect spot to hang it too! "Home Decor" won the prize for smallest ant-work measuring in at just 1.4cm x 1.4cm !! LIFT LAUGH LOVE I am so proud of my silly little artwork and my amazing friend Nour, who runs Unassigned Gallery! She calls it her silly little gallery and look, the gallery isn't silly - but having a place to go and BE silly and have fun and see glorious wonderful and sometimes silly artwork is an absolute BLESSING! I love supporting artists and I love supporting Unassigned Gallery as one of their volunteers! @nour.com.au is an angel and I am so pleased that when she put the call out for last year's Ants 2.0 exhibition to help with labels I replied to her IG story and she picked me to help because now I am the resident Label Wizard (TM) of the gallery and her and I are friends!!! It has only been a year of friendship and I am so excited for many more years of friendship to come!!! 🐜💕🐜💕🐜💕🐜💕 So thank you Ants and thank you Nour and thank you Unassigned Gallery and thank you to all the wonderful people I've met by being a volunteer at the gallery! [The Remembrance of Taste] by @art.of.any.jo The latest acquisition in my art collection. Not knowing either of my blood related grandfathers, and only having photos of them to look at - this artwork spoke so strongly to me. The association with food and taste, struck a chord too. My connection with my various heritages is really only something I know through food - through shared family recipes and meals.
