π€ Does gendered disinformation only include malicious lies against cis-women?
π§ The answer, of course, is... NO! π
βΌοΈ Because β‘οΈ Gendered disinformation can potentially target all women and marginalised genders/sexualities.
β How β‘οΈ By making identity-based narratives (instead of action-based criticism) as the focal point of their campaigns.
π³οΈβπ As #IDAHOBIT2026 winds down, Cleopatra from @uhaieashri puts the focus on queerphobic gendered disinformation and how it can:
β‘οΈ Spread harmful and rigid narratives about sex and gender (eg: βMan and woman are the only two real gendersβ)
β‘οΈ Lead to public discourse that disregard human agency (eg: βShe is trying to be something she isnβtβ)
β‘οΈ Put pressure to conform to the status quo and defend oneself in the face of considerable future harm (eg: assertions of βThis is me; I am not doing or performing my life for moneyβ)
π What is #IDAHOBIT β‘οΈ an acronym for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia β May 17, every year. βπΏ #TheFullPicture

The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda a βpublic health emergency of international concern.β
Around 80 people have reportedly died in the latest outbreak linked to the Bundibugyo strain of the virus.
While the WHO said the situation does not yet qualify as a pandemic emergency, it warned that neighbouring countries face a high risk of further spread and urged governments to strengthen screening and emergency response measures.
