Mandler war kein Freund länglicher Konversation. Nie gewesen. 1. Nach seinem - wie zu erwarten - glänzenden Vortrag in der Offiziersmesse ließ er sich rasch von zwei schneidigen Kadetten in einer halbgeschlossenen Barkasse zurück zur Casa Falcone befördern. 2. Mit vermeintlich erleichterten Zügen hing er seine Gewänder hinaus und schmeckte nach der salzhaltigen (?) modrigen Luft Venedigs. Für einen Moment schien er wie gebannt am Bogenfenster ihrer Unterkunft zu verharren, und ja fast feist zu starren. Würde seine Rechnung aufgehen? Die Zeit, sie schien plötzlich stille zu stehen. Einzig das Wellenspiel des Rio de la Plata direkt unter ihm, warf unaufhörlich tänzelnde reflectiones auf sein barhäuptiges Antlitz, welches - jedes mal, wenn eines der zahllosen Boote den Kanal passierte - zu einem Crescendo von abertausenden Lichtblitzen anhob. 3. Kein Zweifel, es war Frühling geworden in der Lagune. Doch Mandler blieb nur noch Zeit, .... San Michele Cemetery the quiet power of the iron gate 🌅 5y there many great places for sunset and golden hour - but Pier San Marco imho the greatest.
