JAN|24th// I'm lucky to be playing a really special set for an intimate gathering of humans next Saturday at the ever quaint yet indomitable Immortal Mountain. If I play it just right, I'll hopefully be able to tap in with the local spirits who call this plot home to get some *extra thicc* supranatural reverberations, humming along through the wind and soil. Eternal gratitude for my dear homie @drawn_bow + family for curating this evening of community and art, love and light. I'll be playing an acoustic set of my personal songs I've written & recorded over the years that truly float in the ether regularly, though this evening the spirit of them will be snagged and brought into our realm to exist and breathe again if only for the moment. Following my set will be a peeled back version of WV Black Metal outfit INSOUCIANCE then a set from DRAWN BOW whose members regularly tend to the land of the Immortal Mountain. They've always been arms length away popping up at the homie @pabloforhire studio @analogapproach for a kick back or attending a mutual show of friends. I've always admired the diligence in their artistry and their nature as solid guys when we've hung out. I knew they were great but to get a reminder, up close and personal while they command a stage proved to be priceless. Kaleab's [ @ethioblacklion_ ] charismatic delivery supports crucial messaging of oneness in the face of oppressive powers or recounting tales that embody lessons of empowerment - heavy shit! Alex's [ @alex.menick ] guitarings driving the messages in like a jagged knife to the gut; just plain unavoidable but buttery in execution. Ryan's [ @drummerrwest ] grooves keeping you grounded before unexpectedly unleashing you into a full on hypnotizing rhythmic bombardment 😤 I'm stoked to know them! A special shout out to our old band's bassist (and my current band @flooded_pa 's old drummer) @ya_sh0e filling in on drums for Ryan. BRO, not trying to shade you or any projects you're in or have been in, and perhaps partially to blame is the XK material itself speaking volumes as it does... but you sounded great, maybe the best I've ever heard you. We're all growing, as musicians should, so it's not a surprise to hear you at your most updated peak but DAMMIT Jasiu, It was such a treat hearing your playing perfectly in place with these guys. Listening to their music blaring in the car is chill, but taking a direct hit to the dome off the sonic XK blunt was a surprisingly much needed remedy of sorts. The whole set was super captivating so by the time the classic 'Blank Tombstones' came up, I thought to grab a video with a quickness. @_dyeboy // I was super stoked to see these guys on the same bill as long time homies XK Scenario. I met Jake (the handsome fellow playing guitar/singing) working a random shift at Capitol One Hall breaking down a show. I don't know if musicians can just smell the blood of another musician but I had a hunch he played music. He's a super cool dude! We had a good and funny convo, sharing our projects with each other. I'm so glad I didn't miss the opportunity to hear their jams live! They were catchy, heartfelt, a little heavy & gnarled at times, other times softer and sentimental. Some wild chord progressions that were so progressive, @berniesanders would've been made proud 😂 and I am here for it. The creativity on their recordings dive even deeper into a sound not too dissimilar from the vibe of life itself these days: feeling pent up, chaotic, yearning for answers 👌 Check them out! #dyeboy #acreativedc

I don't remember hearing much from the album 'Jazz Mind' when we [@jeezlou_ise & I] saw y'all last WHICH IS COOL because local [Baltimore] heroes Ed Schrader's Music Beat has a more than acceptable catalog of diddies HOWEVER stumbling upon this song and album about a decade ago really helped to shape my young[er] musical mind. Some people fit into and are comfortable [at least they think they are] in boxes. These folks do not. Thank you Ed & Devlin for being yourselves, and unapologetically so. HATE FUZZ // @flooded_pa ...my band finally caved and got our music up for streaming🔥🙃 Before FLOODED was, my old band @amarctrainhome played a number of shows with @jakinthe_box & co. Always a rocking time. I only ever saw them once in DC. I hit up my first 🌴 pop-up and went to the show and smoked them all up. Every band mate and attached significant other. It was a cute moment getting to vibe with my out of state homies in our city. I remember one night after a show in PA, the bands and friends that attended all loaded in to a local diner. We were all friends but only ever got to hang when we were all gathered to play music. Shortly after this show, our band's bassist @ya_sh0e began drumming with them. I was a little jealous for sure haha FLOODED ripped! A few years later, and after being absent from live music for a couple years, I saw JK looking for a drummer to get back into the ring with. I hit him up knowing full well that I was their guy. I came into the picture with album #1 'HATE FUZZ' to learn & album #2 worth of demos awaiting my touch. Diving in to the music head first, I listened over and over, every time I had the chance. The somewhat simple yet powerful composition had me engaged and excited with each passing listen. Jake's gritty and muddied, but pronounced leads accompanied with a lofi nod-to-garage-rock-of-years-past styled vocals, and analog choices in production always got me going. Original drummer and producer on HATE FUZZ, @tyhalcomb 's straight forward, non stop energy is heard in all of the songs on the album. Always tasteful, his delivery never wavering from anything but necessary. The STAMINA this mfer has on songs like Alucard (aka Riffula 🧛‍♂️) still gives me a run for my money while playing it live! @technobish7 's doubling down on heavy bass sections in the mix, making for unearthly soul excavating, as well as her moments of [with the instrument; synth] "speaking/ reading between the lines", fluttering one's freshly [aforementioned] excavated soul up the metaphoric stairway to heaven. OG 2nd guitarist @frmrflwr was another melodic wall of sound you'd hear at a live show. The harmonic soloing tho😭 mah hart, mah sol...
